Our Mission

[ENG] After 2017, a shadow was cast over Forest 808. With two successful editions in 2016 and 2017, we were ready to further develop our concept, but things turned out differently for us.The city of Hechtel-Eksel began building facilities for a youth movement in the woods where Forest 808 took place. We gladly made way for this, but suddenly found ourselves without a location. We contacted several neighboring municipalities to search for an ideal wooded location for our event, but each time without success.

After a five-year search for the ideal wooded location in the North Limburg forests, we began to lose hope. It seemed very difficult to find the perfect location, so we decided to take a different approach. Let's bring Forest 808 back to a meadow without losing its identity. Ultimately, the Hennemeeuwis event field in Neerpelt was chosen.

To honor the "Forest" name, we came up with the idea of linking an ecological goal to our concept. We will do this in the form of reforestation. For each ticket sold, money will go towards planting trees. This goal will be achieved in collaboration with "GoForest," a Flemish organization that is internationally committed to reforesting our planet. All trees that can be purchased from Forest 808 in 2023 will be planted in a forest in Limburg. After planting, everyone can follow the plot of land and the trees through satellite images and news reports.

[NL] Forest 808 heeft na 2017 een tegenslag gehad. Met succesvolle edities in 2016 en 2017, waren we klaar om ons concept verder uit te werken, maar het liep anders dan gepland. De stad Hechtel-Eksel besloot om lokalen te bouwen voor een jeugdbeweging in de bossen waar Forest 808 plaatsvond. We hebben met plezier plaatsgemaakt, maar we zaten plotseling zonder locatie. We hebben contact gezocht met verschillende naburige gemeenten om samen te zoeken naar een ideale bosrijke locatie voor ons evenement, maar telkens zonder resultaat.

Na vijf jaar zoeken naar de ideale bosrijke locatie in de Noord-Limburgse bossen begonnen we de moed te verliezen. Het lijkt zeer moeilijk om de perfecte plek te vinden en daarom besloten we het over een andere boeg te gooien. We brengen Forest 808 terug naar een weide, zonder dat het zijn identiteit verliest. Uiteindelijk hebben we gekozen voor de evenementenweide Hennemeeuwis in Neerpelt.

Om de "Forest" naam te eren, hebben we besloten om een ecologisch doel aan ons concept te koppelen in de vorm van herbebossing. Voor elk verkocht ticket zal er geld naar het aanplanten van bomen gaan. Dit doel zal in samenwerking met "GoForest", een Vlaamse organisatie die zich internationaal inzet voor het bebossen van onze planeet, worden uitgevoerd.

Alle bomen die vanuit Forest 808 in 2023 kunnen worden aangekocht, zullen worden aangeplant in een bos in Limburg. Na het planten kan iedereen het stuk grond en de bomen volgen via satellietbeelden en nieuwsberichten.
